On 18 September 2013, Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping met with a delegation led by Ansyaad Mbai, head of the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) of Indonesia, who was visiting China for China-Indonesia counter-terrorism exchanges.
Cheng expressed that China and Indonesia are friendly neighbours. China attaches great importance to developing relations with Indonesia and is grateful for Indonesia’s support to China’s measures and positions on combating the “three forces” of terrorism, extremism and separatism and safeguarding sovereignty and national security. China is ready to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Indonesia in the field of counter-terrorism and security to safeguard common security interest of the two countries.
Mbai expressed that China is an important strategic partner of Indonesia. The practical cooperation between the two countries in all fields has been constantly deepened. Both countries share quite a number of similarities on the ideas and practices in the field of counter-terrorism and security, with very huge potentials for cooperation. In particular, the two countries can carry out practical cooperation in combating extremism and cyber terrorism so as to jointly maintain peace and stability of the two countries and the region.
Director-General Qiu Guohong of the MFA Department of External Security Affairs, Deputy of International Cooperation of the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) of Indonesia Hari Purwanto and others were present.
