Mr. Yossi Sarid, Minister
Dr. Israel Peleg, Director General

Dear Reader:

This special Winter 1995 edition of Israel Environment Bulletin is dedicated to the historic Middle East peace process. The Ministry of the Environment, along with other government agencies, non-governmental organizations and academic bodies, has worked long and hard to incorporate environmental concerns into the peace negotiations. At the dawn of a new era of peace, it is our fervent hope that the environment will continue to serve as a common ground among nations as they forge new paths toward sustainable development.

Special thanks are due to Mr. Dror Amir, head of the International Relations and Special Projects Division, and to the entire staff of the Ministry of the Environment for their invaluable contribution to the preparation of this special issue.
