| African-American University Leaders Visit Israel

The Foreign Ministry states today (Wednesday) 20.1.99, that a delegation of university leaders representing the African-American community is currently visiting Israel, under the auspices of the Foreign Ministry and the Israel-American Friendship League. The delegation is headed by President and CEO of the United Negro College Fund William Gray III, a former Congressman and Chairman of the Black Congressional Caucus.
During the visit, the delegation will meet President Ezer Weizman, Immigration and Absorption Minister Yuli Edelstein and public leaders and will visit Israeli universities, Yad Vasehm and a number of tourist and Christian pilgrimage sites.
The delegation is interested in studying the Israeli experience and social and political processes and will work to strengthen inter-university relations. The UNCF and the Jewish community view the relationship between Black colleges and Israel as being very important for mutual understanding and a basis for cultural and academic cooperation.
