Chairman of National Peoples Congress Li Peng to Visit Israel

Peoples Republic of China National Peoples Congress Chairman Li Peng will arrive today (Thursday) 25.11.99 for a six-day visit.

During his visit, Mr. Peng will meet President Ezer Weizman, Prime Minister Ehud Barak, Knesset Speaker Avraham Burg, and Regional Cooperation Minister Shimon Peres (who is chairman of the Israeli-Chinese Friendship Association). He will also tour Jerusalem, a kibbutz and high-tech industries.

Li Peng was Chinese Prime Minister when diplomatic relations were established between Israel and China in February 1992. He is the highest ranking Chinese leader to visit Israel since relations were established.
