FM Levy Meets Greek Deputy FM Kranidiotis

Foreign Minister David Levy met today (Wednesday), 4.8.99, with Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Yannos Kranidiotis. The two men decided to establish a bilateral economic committee to examine the possibilities for economic and commercial cooperation and to set up a committee to examine possible cooperation to proviside technical assistance to Balkan countries.

Minister Levy briefed Deputy Minister Kranidiotis on the recent meetings with regional leaders and thanked him for Greece’s readiness to host additional meetings. He also thanked Deputy Minister Kranidiotis for his government’s efforts on behalf of the Jews arrested in Iran.

Deputy Minister Kranidiotis invited Foreign Minister Levy to visit Greece in early September to attend the next (fourth) meeting of a joint Israeli-Palestinian dialogue in Athens. He also delivered invitations from Greek Prime Minister Kostas Simitis for Prime Minister Ehud Barak, and from Greek President Costis Stephanopoulos for President Ezer Weizman, to visit Greece.
