Israel will send a shipment of aid to the victims of the recent earthquake in Colombia. The aid is intended to include 1.5 tons of medicine and 3.5 tons of food (mainly UV milk for babies). The aid comes from both government and private sources and is being provided in response to the appeal by the wife of Colombian President Pastrana to foreign missions in Bogota.

President Ezer Weizman and Foreign Minister Ariel Sharon, this morning (Wednesday), 27.1.99, sent their condolences to their Colombian counterparts.

Advisers from the IDF Rescue Unit are prepared to go to Colombia as per local needs.
