PM Netanyahu Rejects EU Statement on Palestinians
(Communicated by Prime Minister’s Media Advisor)
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday (Thursday), 25.3.99, rejected the European declaration of support for the creation of a Palestinian state, which attempts to dictate the results of the negotiations with the Palestinians. Such a state could form a large military, arm itself without restriction, sign alliances with countries seeking to destroy Israel, and serve as a base for intensified terrorist activity against Israel thereby endangering its existence.
"It is particularly regrettable that Europe, where one-third of the Jewish people perished, has seen fit to try and impose a solution which endangers the State of Israel and runs counter to its interests."
