Prime Minister Barak to Visit Turkey

Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ehud Barak will leave tomorrow morning (Monday), 25.10.99, for a one-day visit to Turkey, where he will discuss a range of bilateral issues including security and water issues with President Suleiman Demirel, Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit, National Defense Minister Sabahattin Cakmakoglu and Chief-of-Staff Huseyin Kivrikoglu.

Prime Minister Barak, accompanied by 15 youths from Israeli development towns, will also dedicate "Israel Village, Turkey" constructed by the Israeli government to assist thousands of Turks left homeless by the recent earthquakes. In so doing, the Prime Minister intends to send a message to Israel’s youth about the importance of the humanitarian assistance which Israel extends to nations in distress, and about the values which guide the Government in its functions.

Prime Minister Barak will also be accompanied by representatives of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, which has donated medical and educational equipment to the new village.

Prime Minister Barak will return to Israel on Monday night.
