|Annual Gathering of the Foreign Ministry’s Center for International Cooperation|

Today, December 31, 2000, the annual festive gathering of MASHAV (the Center for International Cooperation of the Israel Foreign Ministry), will be held at Kibbutz Shefayim Hotel at 10:00 PM.
Presiding over the occasion will be Deputy Foreign Minister Nawaf Massalha and Foreign Ministry Director-General Alon Liel.
Taking part in the event will be 180 trainees from 56 countries, among them Indonesia, Bhutan, Mongolia, Laos, Arab states, and other nations in Asia, Africa and South America.
This year, MASHAV conducted 165 courses in Israel, with the participation of over 4000 trainees from 150 different countries. The students were trained in the fields of Education, Agriculture, Medicine, Public Health, Social and Economic Development, Community Development, Sciences and Technology.
In view of the current situation, Israel attributes particular importance to the impressive attendance of the numerous trainees from around the globe at this gathering. The activities of MASHAV constitute an important element of Israel’s foreign relations among the nations of the world – especially in light of the recent events in the region.
