Australian Prime Minister to Visit Israel

The Prime Minister of Australia, John Howard, will come on his first official visit to Israel (29 April – 2 May) as the guest of Prime Minister Ehud Barak.

While visiting Israel, Prime Minister Howard will meet with President Ezer Weizman, Prime Minister Ehud Barak, Foreign Minister David Levy, Minister of Communication Benjamin Ben-Eliezer and the head of the opposition, Ariel Sharon.

During his visit, the Australian Prime Minister will receive an honorary doctorate degree from Bar-Ilan University and will participate in an event given in his honor by the Israel-Australia chamber of commerce. Prime Minister Howard will be a guest, alongside Prime Minister Barak, at the evening ceremony of Holocaust Memorial Day at Yad Vashem Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Authority.
