FM Ben Ami’s Discussion with UN Secretary General

Foreign Minister Shlomo Ben Ami held a long discussion yesterday (November 26) with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, regarding Israel’s strong complaint to the Security Council concerning Lebanon.

Ben Ami informed Annan of the confidence building measures to be implemented by Israel for the Palestinian population, on the occasion of the Ramadan festival. In his discussion with the UN Secretary General, Ben Ami stated, "I hope that the beginning of the renewal of dialogue will bear fruit."

The Secretary General welcomed the measures, and expressing his hopes for the ending of the violence and the resumption of negotiations.
