PM Barak to Attend Holocaust Conference

Jerusalem, January 25, 2000

Prime Minister Ehud Barak will leave tomorrow (Wednesday) 26.1.2000 for Stockholm in order to attend the Stockholm International Forum on the Holocaust: Conference on Education, Remembrance and Research.

The Prime Minister will deliver a speech at the official opening of the conference tomorrow at 14:30 (local time) in the presence of King Carl XIV Gustav and Queen Silvia of Sweden and some 20 national leaders attending it. The Prime Minister will return to Israel later in the day.

The Prime Minister will take the opportunity to hold meetings with Chancellor of Germany Gerhard Schroeder, Prime Minister of France Lionel Jospin, Prime Minister of Poland Jerzy Buzek, Prime Minister of Sweden Goran Persson, and World Jewish Congress President Edgar Bronfman and visit the special exhibition established by the Congress to remember the Holocaust and to emphasize the importance of the struggle against anti-Semitism.

The Prime Minister will be accompanied by six Holocaust survivors: MK Yosef Lapid, Professor Shevah Weiss, Mr. Yossi Peled, Mr. Emile Brug and Mr. Noah Klieger and a limited number of aides.
