Update for Israelis Abroad – Caucasus Region of the Russian Federation

No change has occurred in the situation prevailing in the Caucasus region of the Russian Federation. Among other recent incidents in the area, a number of Israel citizens were kidnapped and held for ransom. Therefore, the Israel Foreign Ministry again brings to the attention of the public that it is hazardous for Israelis to visit or stay, for any purpose, in the area of the northern Caucasus. The Foreign Ministry wishes, however, to emphasize that the decision to visit the northern Caucasus of the Russian Federation or to stay there is given to the discretion of each individual, and on their sole responsibility. The Foreign Ministry wishes to clarify that from the standpoint of Israeli law, there is no prohibition on visition or staying in the aforementioned areas.
