FM Peres Speaks with US Secretary of State, Foreign Ministers of Belgium, Germany, Norway and EU Secretary-General Solana

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Shimon Peres spoke by phone last night (September 9) with US Secretary of State Colin Powell, Belgium FM Louis Michel, German FM Joschka Fischer, Norway FM Thorbjorn Jagland and Javier Solana, Secretary-General and High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union.

FM Peres told his colleagues that it had been a difficult day, filled with terrorist attacks. He asked them to contact the Palestinians, demanding a cessation of the violence.

Foreign Minister Peres thanked them for their contribution to the accomplishments made at the Durban Conference, where the honor of the democratic countries and the values of human rights were upheld. In addition, during his conversation with the US Secretary of State, FM Peres noted that the American and Israeli policy determined the results of the conference.
