German FM Fischer to Visit Israel

The German Foreign Minister, Joschka Fischer, will arrive in Israel on Friday June 1, within the framework of a regional tour, which will also include the Palestinian Authority, Egypt and Jordan.

During the visit, the Minister will meet with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, Foreign Minister Shimon Peres, Knesset Speaker Avraham Burg and with leader of the opposition, Yossi Sarid.

Foreign Minister Fischer is the leader of the Green Party, which is a coalition partner in Germany. He is considered a true friend of Israel, and shows considerable personal interest and involvement in the region and the peace process.
