Amateur video pictures shot in Gaza show the January 13, 2001 execution of Majdi Mikkawi, convicted by Palestinian authorities for collaborating with Israeli forces. Mikkawi was executed inside a Gaza police station after Palestinian Chairman Yasser Arafat ratified his death sentence.

Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Ehud Barak strongly condemned the court martial conducted by the Palestinian Authority against those suspected of cooperation with Israel, and the executions carried out thereafter.

The Prime Minister added that he regrets that the Palestinian Authority, which is striving to establish an internationally recognized entity, chooses to pursue a policy of show trials which is reminiscent of history’s dark periods.
