August 9, 2001

The Foreign Minister of Jordan, Abed al Hatib, called Foreign Minister Peres and expressed his condolences and the condolences of the Jordanain people regarding the murder in Jerusalem.

FM Peres said that it was a day full of terrorist attacks: the murder of men, women and children in Jerusalem, and a murder near Kibbutz Merav.

FM Peres noted that the name of the controller of the suicide bomber in Jerusalem had been on the list of wanted terrorists that Israel gave to the Palestinian Authority, yet nothing was done. FM Peres wondered why Arafat doesn’t take responsibility and do what he is required to do.
