|Visit of FM Peres to Hungary and Poland|

Jerusalem, August 21, 2001 Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Shimon Peres will depart today (August 21) for an official visit to Eastern Europe.
During his visit to Hungary (August 21-22), Minister Peres will meet with the President of Hungary Ferenc Madl, Prime Minister Victor Orban and Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi. Foreign Minister Peres will discuss bilateral relations with his counterparts, and will present a review of the situation in the region.
During his visit to Poland (August 22-23), Foreign Minister Peres will meet with the President of Poland, Aleksander Kwasienwski and Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek. He will also lay a wreath at the memorial commemorating the Warsaw Ghetto uprising.
Foreign Minister Peres will open the forum of Israel’s ambassadors serving in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the CIS. The forum will take place between August 23-26. During the meeting, the participants will discuss the relations between Israel and the various countries in all the spheres, including political, economic and cultural ties.
