The Association Council meets twice annually to maintain a political dialogue with non-EU countries who have signed the European Union Association Agreement.

Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Livni  leaves today on a one-day official visit to Brussels for a meeting of the EU-Israel Association Council. FM Livni is expected to address the plenum of the Association Council.

During her visit, she will meet with several of her counterparts. Her meeting list includes German FM Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt, European Parliament President Hans-Gert Pöttering, Italian FM Massimo d’Alema, Dutch FM Maxime Verhagen and Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit. 

FM Livni will also meet with European Union High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana.

The Association Council meets twice annually to maintain a political dialogue with non-EU countries who have signed the European Union Association Agreement. Israel is one of only four countries who have signed the agreement. The other countries are: Egypt, Turkey and Morocco.
