FM Livni meets with NSA Stephen Hadley in Tel Aviv to discuss status of negotiation with the Palestinians

(Communicated by the Foreign Minister’s Bureau)

Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Livni met today (Thursday, October 25) in her Tel Aviv bureau with US National Security Advisor, Mr. Stephen Hadley.

FM Livni briefed Mr. Hadley on the status of negotiations in light of her meetings with the Israeli and Palestinian negotiating teams, and said that "I see extreme importance in the dialogue taking place today between Israel and the Palestinians. The process is complex, and we must manage it wisely to enable us to reach agreements, after which the Road Map security principles will be implemented by the Palestinians. At that stage, Israel will be able to undertake its own part in the agreements".

FM Livni added further that the United States, the international community, the Arab states and the efforts of Tony Blair, the Quartet’s special envoy to the Middle East, all play an important role in the success of the process. Every one of the involved parties must play his part, to ensure the success of the Annapolis Summit, which itself is a part of the process.
