(Communicated by the Prime Minister’s Media Adviser)
Summary talks were held Thursday evening, 16 August, by PM Bureau Director General Ra’anan Dinor and attended by the Director General of the Ministry of Welfare and Social Affairs, Nahum Itzkovitch, along with representatives from the Ministries of Finance, Justice and Pensioners.
The representatives of the Holocaust survivors’ organizations, headed by Noah Flug, agreed on most of the disputed issues regarding the financial assistance to be disbursed.
There remain several points in dispute which, together with the issues presently resolved and agreed upon, will be brought before Prime Minister Olmert on Sunday (19 August).
Both sides concluded that the intensive discussions held during the past week were comprehensive and efficient and that throughout the discussions there existed an atmosphere of candor and a sincere will to successfully relieve the dire straits of the Holocaust survivors.
