"People of the World Inscribe the Bible" is a project in which anyone can inscribe a verse from the Bible in his native tongue and in his own handwriting. This global project as of today has been launched in 16 countries and more than 22 languages.

On Sunday, February 18, 2007 Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Livni will host ambassadors at the formal first launching event in Israel. Following the first verse, to be inscribed by FM Livni, the ambassadors will inscribe verses from a chapter from the Book of Isaiah, along with their personal thoughts.
FM Livni wrote: "For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusaelm’s sake I will not rest, until her triumph go forth as brightness, and her salvation as a torch that burneth." (Isaiah 62:1)
Zvi Regev, father of kidnapped soldier Eldad Regev wrote: "Thy children shall return to their own border." (Jeremiah 31:17)
Authors and artists will inscribe a worldwide separate volume of the Bible, combining verses with their personal thoughts about the meaning of the Bible.

Two other Bible volumes will be launched at the fair: one for members of the Israel Experience from Israel and abroad, under the auspices of the Jewish Agency, and the second dedicated to Bar and Bat Mitzvah children – twelve and thirteen year olds from Israel and abroad.
At Israel’s 50th year jubilee and on the threshold of a new millennium, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs took part in an international project: "Children of the World Illustrate the Bible". This successful project gave birth to the new project: "People of the World Inscribe the Bible" – in their own tongue in their handwriting. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs gave its patronage to this project.
All Bible volumes, which will be collected from the various countries, will be forwarded to the Bible House located in the Bible Valley. This will be a global center for the Book of Books which will attract members of all cultures and religions.
This project is international and interfaith. This project will serve as a unique opportunity to promote better understanding between Israel and worldwide social and educational and cultural networks and organizations.
"People of the World Inscribe the Bible" project has so far been launched in 16 countries in 22 languages. At this very moment throughout the globe, many people are inscribing the Bible. The project was launched recently in Ottawa, Canada. A day prior to the launching ceremony, Prime Minister of Canada, Mr. Harper, inscribed the first verse. Following him were the two heads of Parliament, Chief Justice, members of Parliament and many other honored guests.

A few months prior to the Canadian event, the project was launched in Prague, where the Czech Foreign Minister, Mr.Swoboda, inscribed the first verse in an event held at the Ambassador’s home. Following him were many other dignitaries.
The "Authors and Artist" project was launched by Mr. Amos Oz who inscribed "And they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks" at the International Book Fair held in Moscow in September 2006.
