The 20th inauguration ceremony of the international Bible-writing project, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,  took place on May 17, 2007 at the opening of the Warsaw International Book Fair.

President Lech Kaczyński was invited to write the first verse in the book of Geneses, followed by Israeli Ambassador Mr. David Peleg. The Polish Minister of Culture, representatives of Warsaw municipality and other dignitaries also added verses to the book.

The project has been launched in dozens of countries. In some, such as Singapore, the Bible was written in several languages. In this case, it was written in Singapore’s official languages – English, Tamil, Malay and Mandarin. According to Bible Land Association estimates, the project will reach 50 countries within a year.

Several months ago, in the framework of the Jerusalem International Book Fair, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Livni invited foreign ambassadors to add a verse in their own hand in the Bible. Chairman and Managing Director Mr. Zev Birger was the guest of honor at the inauguration ceremony at the Warsaw Book Fair.

All the books, handwritten by hundreds of thousands of Bible-lovers around the world, Jew and Gentile alike, will be displayed in Israel at the 60th anniversary celebrations.
