Prime Minister Ehud Olmert today (Wednesday), 14.11.07, met with Ukraine President Victor Yushchenko . The two men discussed bilateral issues, including economic, trade and cultural affairs, and agreed that bilateral relations must be developed further.  The Prime Minister referred – inter alia – to the need to resolve the problem of older immigrants from Ukraine, whose social rights were not maintained due to their having moved to Israel.  It was agreed to continue bilateral discussions in order to alleviate their plight.

The two leaders also discussed regional issues, including Iran’s efforts to equip itself with nuclear weapons.

Ukraine President Yushchenko invited Prime Minister Olmert to visit Ukraine.

Strategic Affairs Minister Avigdor Lieberman also attended the meeting.
