FM Livni: "We will negotiate for as long as it suits Israel’s interests to do so, and we will not sign an agreement that does not secure Israel’s interests."

(Communicated by the Foreign Ministry Spokesman)

Vice Prime minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Livni met on Monday (18 February 2008) in the Knesset with a delegation of the inter-parliamentary council of the US Congress, who are visiting Israel as guests of the Knesset Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee.

FM Livni stated that "We will negotiate for as long as it suits Israel’s interests to do so, and we will not sign an agreement that does not secure Israel’s interests. Israel alone will determine how much it concedes, and we expect the international community to honor any decision by Israel regarding those issues it finds important".
