Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Livni met today, 24 March 2008, with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake, who is on a working visit to Israel – his fist visit to Israel.

During the meeting the ministers signed an agreement establishing cooperative relations between Israel and Sri Lanka in the areas of culture, science and education.

Referring to Iran and the danger of regional terror, FM Livni said: "All peoples of the world must take a clear stand against terror and those who support it. Iran, which represents an extremist ideology that threatens the stability of the world in general and the Middle East in particular, is seeking to exploit any breach in the international wall of isolation to advance its ends. Firm political and economic action will forestall the need for difficult decisions in the future."
