Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, today (Thursday, December 18 2008), spoke by telephone with Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso. The two men discussed various bilateral issues and reiterated their commitment to continued cooperation, as was agreed upon during Prime Minister Olmert’s visit to Japan this past February.
Prime Minister Olmert commended the Japanese Government for progress on the joint Japanese-Israeli-Jordanian-Palestinian Authority "Peace Corridor" plan for developing the Jericho and Dead Sea and underscored Israel’s commitment to the Plan.
Japanese Prime Minister Aso welcomed the efforts of Prime Minister Olmert’s Government to advance the peace process with the Palestinians and expressed the hope that it would soon bear fruit.
