(Communicated by the President’s Spokesperson)
President Shimon Peres will leave on the morning of Thursday, 23 October 2008, for Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, as an official guest of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
The two presidents will hold joint working meetings and will discuss – inter alia – advancing the peace process between Israel and its neighbors, strengthening ties between Israel and Egypt, the matter of kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit, and a variety of other state and security issues. The two will also discuss the global financial crisis and its possible ramifications in the Middle East.
It should be noted that during a telephone conversation on the eve of Rosh Hashanah and Eid al-Fitr, President Mubarak invited President Peres for an official visit during which the two Presidents would be able to discuss shared paths for regional progress and advancement.
