Egyptian FM Gheit met in Cairo with a delegation from Israel headed by MFA D-G Abramovich.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E Ahmed Aboul Gheit, met on Wednesday, 27 February in Cairo with a delegation from Israel, headed by the Director General of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Mr. Aaron Abramovich.

The parties held serious and substantive consultations on the situation in Gaza, the progress in Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, as part of the process launched at Annapolis, as well as bilateral relations and the situation in the region.

They agreed on the need to work together to improve the situation in Gaza and expressed hope for continued progress in Israeli-Palestinian talks.

The delegation stressed the strategic importance of the relationship between Israel and Egypt, in enhancing and addressing challenges to peace in the region and promoting peaceful co-existence.
