DFM Ayalon will head an Israel delegation that is leaving today to attend a plenary session of the Israel-Vatican Bilateral Permanent Working Commission

Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon will head an Israeli delegation due to depart for the Vatican today (Monday 13 June 2011), to attend a plenary session of the Bilateral Permanent Working Commission between the State of Israel and the Holy See. During his visit, DFM Ayalon will meet with his counterpart Under-Secretary for Relations with States Monsignor Ettore Balestrero, and will discuss with him the possibilities of promoting bilateral relations and other political issues.
The current plenary session is the fifth to be convened since DFM Ayalon was appointed head of the Israeli delegation. The aim of the Bilateral Permanent Working Commission is to promote economic negotiations between the two countries, and is expected to conclude its discussions in the near future. In addition to meeting with Vatican officials, DFM Ayalon will meet with senior Italian officials as well as with members of the Jewish community in Rome.
