Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Liberman instructed Foreign Ministry delegates to submit a formal protest to the EU states and to the US concerning remarks made yesterday by a Palestinian official to the effect that the future Palestinian state would be empty of Jews.

FM Liberman said that the remarks made by Maen Areikat (the PLO’s Chief Representative to the US) are similar to statements made by PA chairman Mahmud Abbas and demonstrate that the leadership of the Palestinian Authority has adopted de facto the concept of "Judenrein". Countries should keep this in mind when they come to the UN to discuss the Palestinian request for an independent state, Liberman said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is considering the possibility of canceling Israel’s participation at the donors’ conference, due to take place in New York next week.
