After celebrating their belated bar and bat mitzvahs at the Western Wall on Monday, some 30 Holocaust survivors were given a special tour of the Knesset and met with Knesset Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein. Following the tour, the survivors received a certificate given by the Knesset Visitors Center to all those who celebrate a bar or bat mitzvah at the Knesset.

During the event, which was organized by the ”Helping Hand to a Friend” charity organization, Edelstein told the survivors ”there is no one more deserving than you to be here at the Knesset and receive blessings and appreciation. Your youth was taken away from you, and yet you still chose life. You came to the Land of Israel and founded new generations. I wish you all mazal tov (good luck) and comfort from the generations you have founded.”

The bar and bar mitzvah celebration at the Western Wall was held with the participation of Western Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch, ministers, MKs and numerous guests.

”Helping Hand to a Friend” seeks to improve the lives of Holocaust survivors, as well as children and families in crisis.
