The Knesset session will open next week with a speech by President Shimon Peres. A wall will also be dedicated to MKs who have won the Israel Prize. On Tuesday the Knesset mark the 40 year anniversary of the Yom Kippur War with a number of events including a special sitting of the plenum. On Wednesday a special meeting will be held in memory of the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin of blessed memory and a week after that one will be held in memory of Minister Rechavam Ze`evi.

Monday (14.10)

16:00: Speaker of the Knesset Yuli-Yoel Edelstein, will open the second session of the 19th Knesset (winter session) and afterwards President Shimon Peres will speak. Then, Prime Minister MK Binyamin Netanyahu, will talk about the activities of the government during the last session and the break and its plans for the coming session. After he finishes, Leader of the Opposition MK Shelly Yachimovich will also speak.

13:30-14:00: Wall dedication in the East Lounge – MKs who have won the Israel prize. The ceremony will be attended by Speaker of the Knesset MK Yuli-Yoel Edelstein, Education Minister MK Shai Piron, the Minister for Senior Citizens Uri Orbach and Speaker of the 11th Knesset Shlomo Hillel along with; MKs, former MKs and hundreds of family members of 33 Prize Laureates.

Tuesday (15.10)

15:15-16:15: A special Knesset Plenum meeting marking the 40th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War will be attended by President of the state Shimon Peres. Expected to speak: MK Yuli-Yoel Edelstein, President Shimon Peres, Prime Minister MK Binyamin Netanyahu, Minister of Defense MK Moshe Ya`alon, Leader of the Opposition MK Shelly Yachimovich, MK Amram Mitzna, MK Zehava Gal-On and MK Shaul Mofaz.

9:00-14:00: The Knesset will mark the 40th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War with special activities for youths, soldiers, and bereaved families: Discussion with former MKs who took part in the war, a special discussion within the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, a presentation in the auditorium and an exhibition of photographs of soldiers.

Wednesday (16.10)

17:00-18:00: A special Knesset meeting in memory of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Yitzhak Rabin of blessed memory, marking 18 years since his murder, attended by President Shimon Peres. Expected to speak: Speaker of the Knesset MK Yuli-Yoel Edelstein, Prime Minister MK Binyamin Netanyahu, Leader of the Opposition MK Shelly Yachimovich and Minister of Science, Technology and Space MK Yaakov Perry

Wednesday (23.10)

12:00-13:00 A special Knesset meeting in memory of Minister of Tourism and MK Rechavam Ze`evi (Ghandi) of blessed memory, marking 12 years since his murder. Expected to speak: Speaker of the Knesset MK Yuli-Yoel Edelstein, Prime Minister MK Binyamin Netanyahu, and Speaker of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee MK Avigdor Lieberman and a representative from the opposition.
