A scandal, first reported on by IDF radio reporter Hadas Shteif, in which a judge asked a witness if she was a prostitute, was discussed in the Committee on the Status of Women and Gender Equality.

Chairwoman of the Committee on the Status of Women and Gender Equality, MK Aliza Lavie said that ”The magistrate judge in Beer Sheva who asked a witness if she was a prostitute cannot sit on the bench even one more time. Someone like this must immediately leave and the court administration`s notice that he is stepping down only after he finishes his trials which have been started is not enough. How can a man like this, who is insulting a witness like this, make any precise judgments? The fact that this man sits on the bench shows that we need to check and refresh the entire vetting process of judges.”

The offended woman responded at the trial ”I want to ask the judge, what were you thinking when you called me a prostitute? Would you have asked a question like this to a man?”
