At the initiative of Health Minister Litzman, an agreement has been reached with the healthcare organizations to expand the number of people eligible for discounts for drugs that are part of the health basket, for elderly individuals aged 72 and older

The Ministry of Health announces that at the initiative of Health Minister Yaakov Litzman, staff work has been conducted at the Control of Healthcare Organizations and Other Health Services Division, within which it was agreed with the organizations that the numbers of persons eligible for 10% discount off the payment for drugs that are part of the state health basket would be expanded, especially for the elderly population.
In view of this, the discount is given to elderly individuals aged 72 or older instead of those aged 75 or older as has been the case heretofore.

The agreement was signed for 5 years, valid until December 31, 2020.

Health Minister Yaakov Litzman: “We are acting to expand the framework of the discount in the drug prices with the aim of helping weak populations, particularly for the aging population that needs this benefit. The Ministry of Health is implementing a social policy and the move for reducing drug prices will help hundreds of thousands of elderly people in Israel and the patient public”.
