MK Eitan Broshi (Zionist Camp), chairman of the Chair, Israel-Bulgaria Parliamentary Friendship Group, and MK Yigal Guetta (Shas) returned from an official visit to Bulgaria, where they met with Parliament Speaker Tsetska Tsacheva, Minister of Agriculture Desislava Taneva, Parliament`s Internal Security Committee Chairman Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Education and Science Committee Chairwoman Milena Damyanova, Agriculture and Foods Committee Chairman Roumen Hristov, the 15-member Bulgaria-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Group, and representatives of the local Jewish community.

During the meetings, Tsacheva and Tsvetanov expressed interest in the State of Israel`s efforts to combat terror and its handling of issues related to internal security and immigration. MKs Broshi and Guetta said Israel would gladly assist Bulgaria in dealing with these issues. They also offered Israel`s help in agriculture and in managing Bulgaria`s water resources.

Following the series of meetings, MKs Broshi and Guetta traveled to the city of Plovdiv, where they took part in a ceremony at the monument commemorating the rescue of Bulgarian Jews during World War Two. The Israeli lawmakers laid a wreath at the foot of the memorial.
