Health Minister MP Ya’akov Litzman and the Director General of the Ministry of Health lauded the appointment of Prof. Kreiss as director of the Shiba Medical Center at Tel-Hashomer
Prof. (Brigadier-General, Res.) Yitzhak (Itzik) is an expert in internal medicine and former IDF Chief Medical Officer. Prof. Kreiss is a graduate of the Hebrew University School of Medicine as part of the academic reserve. After receiving his MD degree, he joined the IDF and completed his internship in internal medicine at the Chaim Shiba Medical Center at Tel-Hashomer.
He obtained a Master of Health Administration degree (MHA) from Tel Aviv University as well as a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Prof. Kreiss has had extensive experience in the area of trauma medicine and humanitarian aid. He was the commander of the medical unit in the IDF assistance delegation to the Albanian refugees in Macedonia, he commanded the hospital that was set up by the Medical Forces to provide aid to the victims of the earth quake in Haiti, led the humanitarian aid operation for the victims of the conflict in Syria, as well as the dispatching of the medical delegation to the victims of the typhoon storm in the Philippines. That year he was granted an award of appreciation for humanitarian assistance in peaceful times as well as in wartimes.
Prof. Kreiss is married to Inbal and a father of three.
