A delegation of Knesset members on an official visit to Latin America met on Tuesday Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes and Foreign Minister Eladio Loizaga.
The Knesset delegation is headed by Likud MK Nava Boker, who chairs the Israel-Paraguay Parliamentary Friendship Group, and it also includes MKs David Bitan (Likud), Haim Jelin (Yesh Atid), Hilik Bar (Zionist Camp) and Hamad Amar (Yisrael Beitenu).

President Cartes, who recently visited Israel, spoke to the MKs about his love for Israel and his commitment to strengthening the relations between the countries. During the meeting with Loizaga, MK Boker thanked Paraguay`s top diplomat for his country`s support of Israel in various international forums and stressed the importance of boosting relations. The members of the Knesset delegation also emphasized Israel`s desire for peace and noted the terror-related challenges the country faces.

On Monday the President of the Paraguayan Senate, Roberto Acevedo Quevedo, signed a memorandum of understanding between the Paraguayan Congress and the Knesset.
The signing marks an important step in bolstering relations between Israel and Paraguay. The document, which was signed in the presence of senior Paraguayan Members of Congress, ensures cooperation between the Israeli and Paraguayan parliaments, mainly on issues related to legislation, documentation, administrational organization and the implementation of advanced technologies.
Knesset Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein signed the document prior to the Knesset members` visit to Paraguay.
