At the special Cabinet meeting today (Thursday), 28.07.94:

1. The Prime Minister briefed the Cabinet on the historic meeting in Washington with King Hussein and President Clinton.

The Cabinet unanimously approved the declaration that was signed in Washington on 25.07.94 by Prime Minister Rabin, President Clinton, and King Hussein.

The Cabinet decided to submit the Washington Declaration to the Knesset for approval at a special session to be held during its summer recess.

2. Tourism Minister Uzi Baram briefed the Cabinet on the large-scale attack against the Argentine Jewish community, which killed almost 100 people Jews and non-Jews.

The Cabinet wishes to demonstrate its support for the Argentine Jewish community and offers its condolences to the bereaved families, and wishes the injured a speedy recovery. The Cabinet condemns this bloodshed and affirms that it will act to assist in the capture and punishment of the criminals.

The Cabinet expresses its solidarity with Jewish communities around the world and calls on other governments to act effectively against terrorism, and to protect the lives of Jews and Israelis in their countries, who are currently the main target of international terrorism.

The Cabinet will do whatever is in its authority and power to protect Israeli and Jewish institutions from international terrorism.
