Dear Reader:

Our Spring-Summer 1994 edition presents the main highlights of the Ministry of the Environment’s most recent English publication. The Environment in Israel. This special edition of the Bulletin should provide readers with a general understanding of the major environmental challenges facing Israel today. While major achievements have been attained in some areas, new efforts are currently being focused on such critical issues as water quality, hazardous substances control, solid waste management and air resources management. New paths of cooperation are currently being forged to deal with the sensitive environmental issues facing the Middle East. Both nationally and internationally, Israel is committed to fulfilling the slogan of the Year of the Environment: "To the Environment with Love. "
