Since the Government’s decisions regarding the Falashmura began to be implemented in August 1993, approximately 2,050 people have arrived in Israel from Ethiopia about 60% in accordance with the Law of Return and the rest according to the Israel Entry Law. These figures were announced at a meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on the Falashmura, which convened yesterday (Monday), 19.06.95.

Participating in the meeting were: Absorption Minister Yair Tsaban, Justice and Acting Interior Minister David Liba’i, former Interior Minister Uzi Baram, Deputy Foreign Minister Yossi Beilin, representatives from the Absorption, Interior, Justice, and Finance Ministries, as well as Jewish Agency and Joint personnel.

At the meeting, it was decided to set up a permanent inter-ministerial committee, headed by the Interior Ministry, and with the participation of representatives of the Ethiopian Jewish community.
