At the weekly Cabinet meeting today (Sunday), 11.02.96:

1. Within the framework of the Ministerial Committee on National Security, the Cabinet was briefed by a security official.

2. The Cabinet approved a draft amendment to Basic Law: Freedom of Occupation designed to protect existing legislation, which was valid when the Basic Law was passed, from the possibility that parts of legislation which contradict the Basic Law could be cancelled; this, for an additional year.

3. According to a proposal by the Religious Affairs Minister, the Cabinet discussed the issue of budgeting for religious services for non-Jewish citizens, and decided to establish an interministerial committee on the matter, comprising: the Finance Minister, Religious Affairs Minister, Minister Yossi Beilin, and Prime Minister’s Office Director-General Zvi Alderoti.
