At the weekly Cabinet meeting today (Sunday), 25.02.96:

1. Within the framework of the Ministerial Committee on National Security, the Cabinet was briefed by security officials on the terrorist attacks in Jerusalem and Ashkelon.

2. The Cabinet held a discussion on the subject, which was summarized by the Prime Minister and Defense Minister, as follows:

A. The Cabinet expresses its deep sorrow over the victims and shares in the heavy mourning of the families of those killed. The Cabinet sends its wishes for a speedy recovery to the wounded.

B. It has been decided to impose a closure over Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip.

C. The Prime Minister has demanded from the Palestinian Authority that it intensify the war against the terrorist organizations’ infrastructure.

D. The Cabinet will re-examine all possible means for preventing suicide attacks.

E. The peace process is continuing. At the same time, the as yet unfinished war against terrorism will also continue.
