>FM Levy to Initiate Contacts with Palestinian Authority to Prevent Car Thefts

During his recent talks in Washington with Palestinian Authority (PA) representatives, Foreign Minister David Levy raised the issue of the theft of vehicles from Israel to areas controlled by the PA. Dr. Saeb Erikat, the PA’s coordinator of negotiations with Israel, expressed a willingness to establish a joint mechanism between Israel and the PA to work towards the possibility of joint efforts in this sphere.

Public Security Ministry Director-General Ami Palnet was today (Monday), 10.11.97, requested to be in contact with the appropriate PA officials in order to establish such a mechanism.
