The Summer 1997 issue of Israel Environment Bulletin strives to open a small window into the world of environmental research and technology in Israelin government, academia and the industrial sector. As a small country, poor in natural resources, Israel must accord high priority to research and development and, indeed, Israeli scientific achievements, especially in such fields as water and energy research, are internationally respected and widely cited. Israel Environment Bulletin hopes to survey additional research programs in the environmental field in future issues and will welcome the contributions of Israeli institutions working in this field.
