Israel Rejects Decision of UNGA Emergency Special Session

(Communicated by the Foreign Ministry Spokesman)
November 14, 1997

Israel rejects the decision of the emergency special session of the United Nations General Assembly which convened on November 13, 1997, calling for the convening of a conference of the High Contracting Parties to the Geneva Convention to discuss the issue of the territories. This decision threatens to undermine the independent status of the humanitarian organizations, which are supposed to be completely detached from political considerations expressed in the UN decisions.
