German FM Joschka Fischer to Visit Israel

German Deputy Chancellor and Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer will visit Israel from Wednesday 10 to Thursday 11.2.99 as the guest of Foreign Minister Ariel Sharon. Germany currently holds the EU presidency. Foreign Minister Fischer will be accompanied by the Vice-President of the European Commission, Mr. Manuel Marin and the EU Special Envoy, Miguel Moratinos.

The following is the timetable of Foreign Minister Fischer’s engagements while in Israel:

February 11, 1999

08:30 — Visit Yad Vashem.

09:55 — Visit grave of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.

10:30 — Meet with President Ezer Weizman, at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem.

11:30 — Meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, at his Jerusalem office.

12:30 — Meet with Foreign Minister Ariel Sharon, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Photo op at start of

meeting. Press conference following its conclusion. In addition, Foreign Minister Fischer will, in the course of Wednesday 10.2.99, meet with the families of missing soldiers, and address an international conference at Tel Aviv University on the subject of "The Changes in Europe — the Generation of 1968 and Changes in Political Culture."
