Israel Submits Protest to UN Security Council

(Communicated by Foreign Ministry Spokesman)
October 7, 2000

Acting Foreign Ministry Shlomo Ben-Ami instructed the Israeli representatives at the United Nations to submit a sharp protest to the UN Security Council regarding the Hizbullah attacks today. Israel notes that Lebanon is responsible for maintaining quiet along the northern border, and the actions today represent a blatant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 425, and an act of provocation. Israel calls upon the Security Council to condemn the attacks against Israel and to oblige Lebanon to adhere to international law.
