Mayors from 40 Countries to Honor Jerusalem and Millennium

Mayors from around the globe will convene for the annual Jerusalem Conference of Mayors for one week starting April 9th. The theme of this year’s conference is "The City at the Turn of the Century: Urban Development, Culture and History".

The 20th Jerusalem Conference of Mayors is hosted by Mr. Ehud Olmert, Mayor of Jerusalem, and sponsored by the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the American Jewish Congress, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation of Germany.

During the week-long conference, the mayors will be received by President Ezer Weizman, Prime Minister Ehud Barak, and Minister of Foreign Affairs David Levy. They will tour ancient and modern Jerusalem, including Yad Vashem and the Israel Museum, and will visit the Har Hozvim industrial park and Shalom Hartman Institute. They will tour the Golan Heights, the Galilee, Masada and Kibbutz Ein Gedi.
