Attack on IDF positions on the northern border
(Communicated by the IDF Spokesman)

March 30, 2002

This afternoon (Saturday), March 30, 2002, anti-tank missiles and mortar bombs were fired toward IDF positions in the Mt. Dov sector. The soldiers sustained no casualties.

The IDF Spokesperson points out that this is a blatant violation of UN Security Council Resolution #425. This incident once again proves Hizbullah’s desire to escalate the situation on the northern border in light of other events.

The IDF forces returned shellfire towards the sources of the incoming fire. IDF planes also struck the sources of the firing in the villages of Shuba and Shaba in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon.

IDF Northern Command declares that all recreation sites in the area are open to visitors.
